I kicked off the Thanksgiving holiday by delivering cards to patients at the VA Hospital in North Little Rock. Students at Fulbright Elementary School made hundreds of cards by hand for the retired servicemen and women. I was honored to represent the Fulbright community to pass out the cards and interact with the patients!

Seeing the look on the Veterans’ faces when they read the mail was priceless. Members of the US Armed Forces do so much for us as citizens, and working to put a smile on their face and bring a little joy is the least we do can to try and repay them for all they have done.

The Holiday Mail for Heroes program is put on by the American Red Cross. The mail made by students has typically gone overseas to those currently serving, but they wanted to keep the cards local this year. Every school that participates reaches out to their local community of Veterans to distribute the mail.

Getting to express our gratitude to these Veterans for their service was a great way to begin a week full of Thanksgiving. A special thanks to those that protect our freedom and keep us safe!
