National Walking Day was a HUGE success! So many of my wonderful neighbors came out to show their support for being physically active and living heart healthy! I am proud to be working with the American Heart Association to spread awareness of the negative effects of obesity (one of which can be heart disease) and how a physically active lifestyle can help prevent or delay these health problems later in life. My neighbors and I had so much fun that we have already planned another walk, and are starting a monthly “Walking Wednesday” tradition!! I challenge you to reach out to friends, family, or neighbors to start your own walking group; It’s a great way to all be active and get to know each other better, too! Be Proactive, Get Active!
