This week I had the opportunity to intern at the American Heart Association! I learned a ton about what AHA does, how it supports the community of survivors, and how many people are actually involved. I was so impressed with not just how many people work there but with how many are active donors and volunteers. They are truly doing amazing things!
This work is so important to me for two reasons. First off, my platform is a direct preventer of heart disease. By being active and eating healthy, you can drastically reduce your risk of this disease.
Second, Go Red for Women is the national platform of the International Pageant system. A dear friend of mine Laine Berry (a former Mrs. Intl) helped establish this connection. Heart disease is the number 1 killer of women in the U.S., and this branch of the Heart Association is working to reverse this statistic. I love having the opportunity to improve the quality of life through my platform and through my partnership with AHA.
