On Wednesday, I had the opportunity to visit Jefferson Elementary to speak to some sweet kids about my platform. As I walked in the door, the kids looked up in awe and all went, “It’s a princess!!!” That is hands down the favorite part of my title- allowing me to make a strong impact in children’s lives through the crown. Half of them didn’t know what it meant to be Miss Metro’s OT, but all of them gave me their undivided attention because a real life princess was speaking to them!
The main goal of my platform, Be Proactive, Get Active! is to empower today’s youth to recognize that they are in complete control of their futures and that they can make the change to guarantee a healthier, happier life. I went to four classrooms of all different ages to spread the same message- choose healthier foods and get active! By reading the story “I.Q. Gets Fit”, having the students assist me in packing a healthy lunch, and exercising with them, I hope I got the message across that being healthy is fun and that we can all do it. I love children, so I just had too much fun going to visit them!!!
